India won the second Test against England by 317 runs in Chennai.
Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli on Tuesday (February 16) achieved yet another feat with a massive 317-run win over England in the second Test in Chennai, as he became the joint-most successful captain for India alongside MS Dhoni in Test cricket at home.
Team India produced an incredible performance in the second Test in Chennai after an embarrassing defeat in the opening Test, as the hosts dominated England in all three departments to record a thumping 317-run win over the tourists to level the ongoing four-match Test series on Tuesday.
The second Test-match win in Chennai was Kohli's 21st victory as captain at home, which meant the dashing cricketer equaled Dhoni's big captaincy milestone of 21 Test wins in India to become the joint-most successful captain on home conditions in the five-day format of the game.
Notably, Dhoni had captained India in 30 Tests at home in which the legendary captain won 21 Test matches and drew 6 games, while Kohli has so far led the national side in 28 games and won 21 with the latest Chennai Test win, losing only 2 Tests till the date at home.
Kohli also has a higher win rate of 77.8 percent than Dhoni’s 70 percent winning rate in the Test cricket followed by Mohammad Azharuddin (13 wins, 65 percent), Sourav Ganguly (10 wins, 47.6 percent), and Sunil Gavaskar (seven wins, 24.1 percent) in the elite list of Indian captains.
Noteworthy, having tied with Dhoni, Kohli will have a great chance to overtake former India captain in the next two Test matches against England in Ahmedabad to become India’s most successful Test captain at home.
