South African speedster Dale Steyn toned down the comparisons between him and England pacer James Anderson saying the latter broke through India in the first Test at Chennai while the former sat at home.

38-year-old James Anderson is currently looking at his best in Indian subcontinent conditions after some brilliant performances against Sri Lanka and India. The 158-Test veteran has always been compared to the fast bowling sensation from South Africa, Dale Steyn.

While the two are among the greatest fast bowlers in Test history, Steyn has put down his claim over Anderson by stating that the Englishman is still going strong even after the retirement of the former.

A statistical comparison on Twitter of Anderson and Steyn in Asian conditions showed that the South African picked more wickets, at a better average and a better strike rate while also having better BBI (Best Bowling Innings) than Anderson.

However, Steyn replied to it saying, "The only comparison required is that Jimmy is still going and I’m watching from my 20/20 sofa. He’s a legend and seems to be getting better with age."
