Virat Kohli helped a cramping Joe Root displaying the right 'Spirit of Cricket'.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli's kind gesture towards his opposite number, Joe Root, on Day 1 of the first Test was lauded by all when the latter found himself in pain. Former Australian cricketer Shane Warne too joined the pack and tweeted about the 'Spirit of Cricket' act from Kohli.
The England skipper opted to bat first after winning the toss in the first Test and got to a century by the close of play on Day 1 itself. The heat of Chennai was too much to take for Joe Root and he suffered from cramps minutes before stumps.

He was seen lying on the ground in pain and that is when Virat Kohli went up to him. Kohli helped Root with a couple of stretches before the latter got back on his feet to continue the innings.
It was an extremely kind gesture from the Indian captain providing a great example of what is called 'Spirit of Cricket'.
Joe Root went on to register his 5th double century in Test match cricket. His knock of 218 helped England post a mammoth first innings total of 578.
Shane Warne, in his tweet, praised Kohli for the kind gesture and Root for his exemplary innings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
