England players and support staff had undergone the final COVID-19 testing and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Friday (February 1) confirmed that the entire touring contingent has returned negative for the deadly COVID-19, making them eligible to start practice for the Test series.

All the players and support staff have cleared three negative COVID-19 Tests during their six-day quarantine in Chennai and now they are eligible to start practice for the upcoming four-Test series starting February 5 (Friday) in Chennai.

After clearing the tests, England players are now out of quarantine and will train for the first time as a full group at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from Tuesday (February 2).

However, England’s all-rounder Ben Stokes, pacer Jofra Archer and batsman Rory Burns have already started preparations in Chennai for the upcoming Test series since they have arrived earlier in Chennai directly from home while other players had flown into India from Sri Lanka.

Noteworthy, England will also play five T20Is and three ODIs against India.
