Virat Kohli made 186, his highest Test score against Australia overall.
Resuming on day four at 59, Virat Kohli continued his subdued approach to the game as he nudged for singles and doubles as he neared his century and he finally got to the landmark off Nathan Lyon’s bowling.
This was his 28th Test ton and 75th in international cricket. Kohli continued on to make his best score in Tests against Australia in India, bettering his 107 in Chennai a decade ago, and then went past the 169 he had made in Melbourne Test in 2014-15.
He finally fell for 186 runs, his highest Test score against Australia, as he tried to up the ante after India lost two quick wickets of Akshar Patel (79) and R Ashwin and Kohli was running out of partners as Shreyas Iyer was unable to bat due to his lower back issues.
Kohli’s innings lasted for 364 balls and he hit 15 fours in his knock. He had begun developing cramps and got treatment for the same, after batting and running in the Ahmedabad heat.
After India’s innings ended on 571, Virat Kohli received a huge amount of praise and one of his admirers was his wife Anushka Sharma, who took to Instagram to laud his knock. Not only this, Anushka also revealed that Kohli batted while battling sickness, without revealing the details.
