India became the 1st Asian team to acheive a Test win in two days.
Afghanistan got a rude welcome to the rigors of Test cricket, as they lost to hosts India in their debut Test in two days at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. India beat Afghanistan by an innings and 262 runs, the biggest win for the no.1 ranked Test team.
India scored 474 thanks to centuries from Shikhar Dhawan (107) and M Vijay (105) and fifties from Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul. Yamin Ahmadzai was the pick of Afghan bowlers for his 3/51. Rashid Khan picked two wickets, going for 154 runs.
In reply, Afghanistan was bowled out twice in the same day on day two, scoring 109 and 103 in their two innings. Mohammad Nabi made 24 in the first innings and Hasmatullah Shahidi top scored with 36*. R Ashwin picked four wickets in the first innings and Ravindra Jadeja picked four wickets in second innings, to finish with six wickets to his name. Indian became the first nation from Asia to win a Test in two days.
Shikhar Dhawan won the Man of the match and Ajinkya Rahane lifted the trophy for winning the match in two days.
