The second ODI between West Indies and Australia witnessed a rare incident in cricket when the hosts were reduced to 10 players on the field. West Indies captain Kieron Pollard had to walk out of the boundary for a free-hit during Australia's innings.

The incident happened during the 17th over of Australia's innings when Akeal Hosein's second delivery was called a no-ball for more fielders outside the 30-yard circle. The square-leg umpire noticed it and called the delivery illegal.

Australia were given a free-hit for the next delivery and because the batsman didn't rotate the strike, the fielders were not allowed to change. Pollard was fielding at the short-leg and he couldn't change his position according to the rule.

For safety reasons, the Caribbean captain stood behind the boundary for the free-hit. Mitchell Starc powerfully struck the ball to the on side but could only manage a couple of runs.

Eventually, Australia got bowled out on 187 runs and West Indies chased it down with four wickets in hand to level the series 1-1.
