India, resuming from 204/6, was bowled out for 224 runs on day 2 of the ongoing Test.
Karun Nair was dismissed for 57, and Washington Sundar was dismissed for 26 runs, while the rest of the tail were dismissed in no time. For England, Gus Atkinson took 5/33, while Josh Tongue took 3/57.
When England began their first innings, it was clear that they were in the mood for some Bazball cricket, especially after the sedated play in the fourth Test in Manchester. Both Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett came out all guns blazing as England went past 50 in just 6.6 overs.
Ben Duckett was particularly severe on Mohammed Siraj, who went for 31 runs in his first 4 overs, and Akash Deep, who replaced Jasprit Bumrah in this match, went for 24 runs in his 4 overs this far.
The highlight of Duckett’s knock was his 3 fours and 2 sixes, out of which one hit against Akash Deep stood out.
Akash Deep bowled a length ball angling into Duckett. However, the England batter opened up his stance at the last moment and reverse-scooped the ball into the stands over third man for a six.
