Rahul was blessed with a baby girl in March this year.
KL Rahul is currently with the Indian cricket team in England for the five-match Test series. He was one of the earliest squad members to arrive in UK for the marquee Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
The long tour has taken a toll on everyone. Even more so for Rahul, who was blessed with a baby girl in March this year.
While speaking to Cheteshwar Pujara for Sony Sports Network, Rahul spoke about the joy his daughter has brought and the difficulty of balancing professional commitments with family life.
"Yeah, it's a great time in my life for my family. I've always loved children. I've always wanted children for a long time. So, made me and my family really really happy. We're in a great place. She's a beautiful little girl. It's brought so much happiness into our lives," said Rahul.
When asked if he got the chance to perform any daddy duties, Rahul replied, "I have done a little bit, but unfortunately, two days after she was born, I had to go play the IPL game. And I tried in whatever breaks we got during the IPL to go back for a couple of days and then finish the IPL.
"It was really hard to take that decision to come here and play that India A game as well because I had not spent any time with her and I knew when I come here, I won't see her for another two months. So, it's a really really hard decision.
"There were some really hard decisions that I've had to make in the last few months. But yeah, I thought that that was the right thing to do for me professionally and my family's been really supportive. My wife was very supportive.
"So, I came here. So, I haven't seen her and I just keep seeing her pictures and I'm always on the baby camera. Making sure I don't miss anything or any part of her growth. So, it's a difficult thing to do when you're traveling and playing and you miss each day. It's not seeing her," he continued.
KL Rahul, who is the senior-most batter in the current Indian Test team after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's retirement, has lived up to the expectations in the ongoing Test series against England.
With 375 runs to his name from three Tests, which includes two centuries and a fifty, Rahul is the fourth-highest run-getter in the series till now, only behind Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant and Jamie Smith.
