Kamboj became 318th cricketer to represent India in the Test format.
Haryana seamer Anshul Kamboj made his debut for India in the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford, Manchester on Wednesday (July 23).
Kamboj, who received his cap from former India wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta, expressed his feelings as unreal and beyond words.
"It’s such a good feeling that I can’t even explain it, I don’t know how to express it in words. I just want to do my best, as much as I can," Kamboj said in a video shared by the BCCI.
During the cap ceremony, Dasgupta delivered heartfelt words for Kamboj, saying: "Congratulations, Anshul. Indian cricketer, number 318. You deserve every bit of it. So enjoy yourself. All the best. Congratulations again."
Known for his ability to swing the ball and maintain discipline, Anshul Kamboj has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket.
The 24-year-old received India call-up after a series of impressive outings for India A, especially in the unofficial Tests against England Lions last month.
Kamboj replaced injured Akash Deep as India made three changes to their playing XI for the penultimate Test. Sai Sudharsan and Shardul Thakur coming in for Karun Nair and injured Nitish Kumar Reddy were the other two changes in the line-up.
India are currently 1-2 behind in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. They can’t afford to lose the Manchester Test or the series will be gone.
