Rishabh Pant had hurt his finger during the Lord's Test and Dhruv Jurel had kept wickets instead.
Rishabh Pant had impressed with the bat earlier in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, but a hand injury prevented him from keeping wickets during India's 22-run defeat in the third Test against England at Lord's.
Rishabh Pant had to leave the field during the second session of Day 1 of the third Test against England after being hit on the left index finger at Lord's.
Despite medical aid, Pant chose to walk off the field without pain treatment in his finger. Dhruv Jurel kept wickets for India for the remainder of the first innings, followed by the entire second innings of the England squad.
Rishabh Pant batted in the second innings despite suffering from hand pain and was unable to make much of an impact as Jofra Archer clean bowled him. There were rumors that Dhruv Jurel would take up the keeping gloves and Pant would play solely as a hitter.
But all those rumors were quashed as a few videos circulated on social media, showing Rishabh Pant donning the keeping gloves during an intense training practice ahead of the Manchester Test. Pant was seen keeping wickets, while Shubman Gill, Karun Nair, and KL Rahul formed the slips cordon.
