Jadeja and Woakes were seen discussing a rough patch on the pitch.
Ravindra Jadeja and Chris Woakes were involved in a hilarious conversation on Day 2 of the second Test between India and England at Edgbaston.
The video of the incident went viral on social media, where the duo is seen discussing a rough patch on the pitch, with Jadeja reiterating that his spikes weren’t responsible for the footmarks.
The England bowlers weren’t able to extract much from the pitch as India skipper Shubman Gill and Jadeja made the most of the ideal batting conditions with a 203-run stand off 279 balls. No wonder, Woakes was fairly bemused by the nature of the track.
“I was coming from here," Jadeja said while pointing to a part of the strip with his bat. “Look what you have done, mate," Woakes replied. “I won’t bowl there anyway. Why would I do that? My focus is on batting," Jadeja quipped.
“Faltu ka aisa mindgames chal raha England ka aur Jadeja ne kaafi aisa mindgames khela hai (England are playing unnecessary mindgames, but Jadeja has played quite a few as well)," Varun Aaron said on-air.
Josh Tongue broke the partnership by dismissing Jadeja on 89. However, Gill held the one end firmly and went on to slam his maiden Test double ton in the post-lunch session.
At the time of writing, Shubman Gill was batting on 260, with India going strong at 558/7 in their first innings.
