Rishabh Pant became the first Indian keeper-batter to hit twin centuries in the same Test.
When asked about the positives from the first Test loss to England, Gambhir didn't seem in the mood to highlight individual genius like Pant's two hundreds in the match.
When asked how it felt to see Pant's outstanding innings that didn't help India win the match, Gambhir, who never holds back or hides his disappointments, responded in a pretty confrontational manner.
“There are three more centuries as well. Those are big positives as well. Thank you. I would have liked it if you said there was a hundred from Yashasvi (Jaiswal), a hundred from Shubman (Gill) on debut as captain.
(There was a) hundred from KL (Rahul) and two centuries from Rishabh, so five centuries in a Test is a great start to be honest. And hopefully the question could have been better,” Gambhir said while speaking at the post-match press conference.

Individual performances don't matter much if the outcome is a loss, according to the head coach. Despite giving England a challenging goal of 371 runs, India lost by five wickets.
“But again, these are great positives, we had a fifer from Jasprit Bumrah as well. Eventually, everything boils down to the fact that…we go out there to get the results. Yes, Individual performances are good, we want those big runs from our top six, seven, which we got in this Test. But at the end of the day, you go out there to win a Test. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the result. So we take it on the chin and move forward," Gambhir added.
The second Test between England and India will be played from July 2 onwards at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.
