Indian fielding has been extremely poor in the ongoing first Test in Leeds.
Ravindra Jadeja, who bowled a superb over and almost got rid of Root twice in a row, was furious with Shardul Thakur after the all-rounder's poor fielding performance cost him three runs during Tuesday's final session.
Jadeja, who had just beaten Root's outside edge with a peach of a delivery and almost trapped him LBW, threw one up to the former England captain in the fourth ball of the 62nd over, inviting the drive.
When Shardul Thakur overran the ball and slipped, Root was game and drove towards mid-on. Shardul took his own time getting up and picking up the ball, so what should have been a couple at best ended up being three runs.
Jadeja was enraged by this and yelled at Shardul, hurling a mouthful at him for his lackluster attempt. In response, Shardul attempted to clarify that he had slipped.
Stokes and Root knew they needed to pinch one additional run. Jadeja returned to his mark in a rage.

In this Test match, India has performed poorly in the field. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the opening batsman, has dropped four catches in two innings alone. In the first inning, Jadeja personally dropped Ben Duckett.
When Duckett reached 98 in the second inning, he was dropped once more. With a brilliant display of strokeplay, the left-hander proceeded to score 149 off 170 balls.
