Bumrah claimed a five-wicket haul in England's first innings at Headingley.
Jasprit Bumrah once again showed why he is ranked as the No.1 ranked bowler in the longest format of the game. Playing his first Test match after a lengthy IPL season, the Indian pace spearhead returned with a five-wicket haul against England at Headingley.
Bumrah, who had dismissed three top-order batters on Day 2, took the last two English wickets in the post-lunch session on the third day to complete his 14th fifer in Test cricket.
Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue were his victims. His figures of 5/83 helped the visitors gain a meagre first-innings lead of 6 runs after posting 471 on the board.
Bumrah’s Headingley heroics earned him rich praise from former England cricketer-turned-commentator, Nasser Hussain.
Hussain reckons Bumrah is so good that if he had faced him during his play days, he would have lost his wicket 10 times out of 10.
“I would have had an absolute nightmare. Anyone that created that angle like he does would get me out for fun. He would get me out 10 times out of 10 in a five-match series. He is just brilliant, and I wasn’t," Nasser said in a video shared by Sky Sports Cricket when asked, “How would Nasser Hussain play Jasprit Bumrah?"

Apart from Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna (3/128) and Mohammed Siraj (2/122) shared the remaining five English wickets between them.
Speaking of England’s batting, centurion Ollie Pope (106) departed early on Day 3, but Harry Brook led the charge with a fine knock of 99, before narrowly missing out on his century.
The visitors ended the third day on 90/2 in the second innings, extending their lead to 96 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal (4) and Sai Sudarshan (30) were the dismissed batters, while KL Rahul (47*) and skipper Shubman Gill (6*) were unbeaten at stumps.rah
