Bumrah once again showed why he is ranked as the No.1 ranked Test bowler.
Bumrah, who had dismissed three top-order batters on Day 2, took the last two English wickets in the post-lunch session on the third day to complete his 14th fifer in Test cricket.
Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue were his victims. Bumrah’s figures of 5/83 helped the visitors gain a meagre first-innings lead of 6 runs after posting 471 on the board.
Prasidh Krishna (3/128) and Mohammed Siraj (2/122) shared the remaining five English wickets between them.
Talking about England’s batting, centurion Ollie Pope (106) departed early on Day 3, but Harry Brook led the charge with a fine knock of 99, before narrowly missing out on his century.
The focus will now shift back to the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, captain Shubman Gill and vice-captain Rishabh Pant, who all slammed centuries in India’s first essay.
For his exceptional bowling display, Jasprit Bumrah received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on social media.
