The first Test between India and England will begin on June 20 at the Headingley ground in Leeds.
Delhi pacer Harshit Rana, who was part of the India A squad that recently toured England, has been reportedly asked to stay back and will probably join the Indian team for the upcoming five-Test series.
The encounter in Kent, which was primarily viewed as a rehearsal for the senior Indian side captained by Shubman Gill, may have served as a prelude to the Test matches against England. It did, however, give the India A players another chance to establish their value and perhaps even compel a last-minute alteration.
Fast bowler Harshit Rana, who was a member of the India A team, will remain in England and will not be traveling back to India on June 17 with the other members of the 'A' team, according to a report in RevSportz.
The report suggested that Rana's situation is unique, even though numerous Indian players had received offers from different County teams in England. However, it was unclear at the time if the development meant he would be included in the Indian team for the Test series.
Rana only participated in one India A match, scoring 16 runs and taking one wicket for 99 runs. Since there were no fans or media present and the game was not played behind closed doors, his performance in the intra-squad competition is still unknown.
After a stellar performance with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2024 Indian Premier League, when current India head coach Gautam Gambhir was the team's mentor, the Delhi speedster made his debut for the Indian squad.
Rana received a national call-up after impressing the former India cricket player, and he eventually made his debut during the Australian tour in Perth. During the series, he participated in two Test matches and claimed four wickets.
However, Rana was passed over for the England series because the BCCI selectors preferred Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, and Akash Deep to join Jasprit Bumrah in the pace department.
