Rishabh Pant is expected to hold a key for India in the five-Test series against England.
The first Test is slated to be held at Headingley from June 20, followed by matches at Edgbaston (July 2-6), Lord’s (July 10-14), Old Trafford (July 23-27) and The Oval (July 31-August 4).
Rishabh Pant is expected to hold a key for India in the marquee series, and the wicketkeeper-batter has announced his arrival in England by smashing a massive six that shattered the roof of the stadium.
In a video doing rounds on social media from India’s net session, the southpaw can be seen hitting Washington Sundar for a maximum by going down on one knee, and the ball then broke the roof of the stadium upon landing.
Ahead of the England tour, Pant was appointed India’s as vice-captain in Tests. The southpaw boasts an impressive Test record on English soil, scoring 556 runs in 9 matches with the help of two centuries and as many as fifties.
After the retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma from Test cricket, Rishabh Pant will be one of India’s senior-most batters, and the onus would be on him to bat with responsibility and make big runs against the Ben Stokes-led side.
