England ended day one at 198/7 after winning the toss and choosing to bat.
England opted to bat first having won the toss and openers Alastair Cook and Keaton Jennings gave England a solid start with 60 runs for the first wicket. However, then wickets started to fall in a heap as Cook went for 71 and Jenning for 23. Root, Bairstow, and Curran scored ducks, while Stokes scored 11 runs. Moeen Ali hung on for 50 before falling to Sharma.
Ishant Sharma picked 3/28 in 22 overs, while Bumrah and Jadeja picked two wickets each and sent England into a deep collapse.
