Chris Woakes became the 10th player to make it to both batting and bowling honors board at Lord's.
The first day and part of the second day was washed out at the Lord’s, England needed just 35 overs to clean up India for just 107 runs. James Anderson picked 5/20 and was at the forefront of the demolition job at the iconic ground.
England began their first innings at Lord’s on day three and started off cautiously before Jennings fell LBW to Shami for 11 runs. Jennings took the DRS review but was found plumb out. Ishant Sharma got Alastair Cook knicking behind to Dinesh Karthik for 21 and Shami then accounted for Joe Root for 19 runs. Newbie Ollie Pope hit 28 runs, before Hardik Pandya’s in dipper found him LBW, leaving England 89/4.
However, Jonny Bairstow (93 with 12 fours) and Jos Buttler stabilized the innings; Shami got him LBW for 24 off 22 balls. Chris Woakes then walked in and along with Bairstow, took the game away from India, over by over and stroke by stroke. He became the 10th player to make it on both the batting and bowling honors boards.
Indian bowlers were hampered by the bright sunshine and dry pitch with only Mohammad Shami getting traditional and reverse swing.
Bad light ended play early with Chris Woakes not out at 120 and Sam Curran unbeaten on 22 runs.
