Duleep Trophy is set to begin from September 5 in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh and Bengaluru.
Indian cricketers namely Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik have been ruled out from the first round of Duleep Trophy 2024 matches.
The First-Class tournament would be played from September 5 with India A, B, C and D squads battling for the trophy over a period of 17 days.
While no clarification has been given behind releasing Jadeja, BCCI informed that both Siraj and Umran are ill and will not recover in time to make the first round of the red-ball competition.
“Both Siraj and Malik are suffering from an illness and are not expected to be fit in time for their Duleep Trophy fixtures,” the board said in a statement.
Siraj, who was part of Team B, will be replaced by right-arm quick Navdeep Saini in the squad. On the other hand, Madhya Pradesh pacer Gaurav Yadav will come in place of Umran in the Team C squad. No replacement has been named for Jadeja.
