Ishan Kishan, the Jharkhand captain, lit his team’s Buchi Babu tournament encounter against Madhya Pradesh on fire with a scintillating century. Madhya Pradesh had won the toss and chose to bat first.

They managed 225 runs in their first innings thanks to Shubham Kushwah’s 84 and a fifty by Arham Aquil. In reply, Jharkhand found themselves 108/3 with opener Vikash Vishal also having retired hurt. On the other hand, Ishan Kishan made his presence felt on the ground with the willow in the hand. Earlier, he had also kept wickets very cleanly, taking good catches and leading wonderfully well.

Ishan Kishan, who is playing his first red-ball game after a very long time, launched a scathing counter attack. After taking just 14 runs off his first 36 balls, he hit 36 in the next 24 to complete his half-century. Kishan continued to bat aggressively, reaching his hundred off just 86 balls.

He reached the milestone with back-to-back sixes off off-spinner Adheer Pratap Singh and video of the six with which he reached his century had gone viral. He was eventually dismissed for 114 off 107 balls including 5 fours and 10 sixes. Thanks to his splendid knock, Jharkhand is 277/7 with a lead of 51 runs after day two.

Here is how Ishan Kishan completed his century with a massive six:

After the Buchi Babu Trophy, Ishan will play in the Duleep Trophy, which starts on September 5. He was included in the India D squad, which will be led by Shreyas Iyer.
