The next best score was by Anmolpreet Singh, who smashed 87 in 26 balls with 9 sixes and 6 fours as he led Punjab to a record total of 275/6 in 20 overs. Andhra’s Harisankar Reddy was plundered for 66 runs in his four overs while Yarra Prithviraj gave away 63 from his four-over spell.
Punjab’s total went past the previous record which was held by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). They had hit 263/5 against Pune Warriors India in IPL 2013. This was the same match where Chris Gayle hit the highest individual T20 score of 175*.
Not only this, but Punjab also broke the record for the most sixes hit by an Indian T20 team with 22, surpassing RCB’s 21 from the same game in 2013.
In response, despite Ricky Bhui's 104*, Andhra Pradesh could only muster 170/7 in 20 overs. They lost the match by 105 runs. Harpreet Brar picked 3/18 for Punjab.
