Suryakumar Yadav returned to domestic cricket for Mumbai in grand style as he appeared in their second-round Ranji Trophy 2022-23 match against Hyderabad, which is being played at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy ground in BKC in Mumbai.

Suryakumar Yadav boasts of a stellar record in First-Class cricket having made his debut for Mumbai in 2010. He had played 77 matches scoring 5326 runs with 14 centuries at an average of 44.01 and his highest score is 200.

Three years since playing his last FC matches in 2020, Suryakumar Yadav returned to the fold, playing for Mumbai against Hyderabad. He walked out to bat when Prithvi Shaw got out for 19 runs off the bowling of Karthikeya Kak and joined young Yashasvi Jaiswal in the middle.

“I've always dreamt of playing Tests for India”- Suryakumar Yadav says he enjoys playing red-ball cricket

The duo added 153 runs for the second wicket as Jaiswal hit his 7th FC century and Suryakumar Yadav scored 90 runs in just 80 balls with 15 fours and 1 six at a strike rate of 112.50. He was dismissed by Shashank M, who got him out LBW with Mumbai on 176 runs.

It was a stellar showing from Suryakumar Yadav who has had an amazing year for the Indian team in 2022. He scored more than 1000 runs in T20Is, where he is the no.1 ranked batter in the ICC rankings. He also scored two centuries in the format, becoming only the second Indian after Rohit Sharma to achieve this feat.

He also impressed in the T20 World Cup 2022 where he scored 3 half-centuries at a strike rate of 189.68 including a difficult one against South Africa on a spiteful pitch in Perth stadium.
