Eoin Morgan and Michael Vaughan join R Ashwin in lauding the entertaining start of The Hundred

Oval Invincibles women beat Manchester Originals in the first-ever match of The Hundred.

The much-awaited new format tournament by England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), The Hundred kicked off on Wednesday (July 21). It was a clash between women's team of Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals at The Oval.

The Oval Invincibles defeated Manchester Originals by 5 wickets with two balls spare. India's off-spinner R Ashwin liked the start of the tournament and he tweeted that the women teams put on an impressive show.

"What a start to #TheHundred ???????? The women were awesome tonight.????????," Ashwin tweeted after the match.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan believes The Hundred is going to be a huge success. He also added that the tournament can be a good boost for women's cricket.

"Well I never … I think this 100 is going to be a huge success … What a great advert for the women’s game … #LovedIt," he tweeted.

England's limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan, who's also part of The Hundred and will be leading London Spirit, called it a highly entertaining tournament. "What a start to @thehundred Brilliant game. Great entertainment. I can’t wait to get going ????," Morgan's tweet read.
