PSL 2021: PSL match re-scheduled after Fawad Ahmed tests COVID-19 positive

Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 league stage match between Islamabad United (ISU) and Quetta Gladiators (QTG) has been rescheduled to Tuesday, March 2 after ISU spinner Fawad Ahmed tested positive for COVID-19.

Fawad Ahmed had already gone under isolation a couple of days back after his COVID-19 tests returned a positive result. The rest of the ISU squad also underwent a round of tests and everybody returned a negative result. As a result, the rest of the players can play the game on March 2.

Islamabad United tweeted from their official account, "One of our players, Fawad Ahmed tested positive for Covid and was immediately put in isolation 2 days ago. All other Islamabad United players and members have tested negative and have been cleared to play. We wish Fawad a speedy recovery."

The 39-year-old spinner received a lot of kind messages on social media with fans praying for his quick recovery. Fawad thanked all of them with a tweet.

The 12th match of the tournament between ISU and QTG will now start at 19:00 PKT. Here is PCB's official confirmation:

Test results of both Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United squads have come back negative.

This is being done to ensure players from both sides get time to prepare for the game.
