PSL 2021: ICC elite panel umpires Michael Gough and Richard Illingworth set to officiate in the tournament

PSL 06 will be held in Karachi and Lahore from next week.

ICC Elite Panel umpires Michael Gough and Richard Illingworth will officiate in the upcoming sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to be held in Karachi and Lahore from next week.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday (February 12) confirmed that England’s Gough and Illingworth, members of the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, will join Pakistan-based umpire Aleem Dar to officiate the upcoming PSL 2021 in Pakistan starting from February 20 to March 22.

The PCB has also further announced that the seven domestic umpires will join the trio of Gough, Illingworth, and Dar to officiate the games.

The other seven local umpires are – Ahsan Raza, Asif Yaqoob (PCB Umpire of 2020), Faisal Khan Afridi, Imran Jawed, Rashid Riaz, Shozab Raza, and Zameer Haider.

Meanwhile, the PCB has also hired former member of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, Roshan Mahanama to officiate in the tournament along with PCB’s Ali Naqvi, Iftikhar Ahmed, Muhammad Anees, and Mohammad Javed Malik.

The defending champions Karachi Kings and 2019 winners Quetta Gladiators will kick start the PSL 06 campaign at the National Stadium on February 20.

The PSL 2021 opener will be umpired by Aleem Dar and Ahsan Raza, while Rashid Riaz and Asif Yaqoob will be the third and fourth umpires respectively and Roshan Mahanama will be the match referee.

Noteworthy, it is being said that the foreign participants have already started to arrive in Karachi – where the first leg of the PSL 2021 will be held.
