Tambe, 48, became the first cricketer from India to feature in a Caribbean Premier League match.
Playing for Trinbago Knight Riders against St Lucia Zouks, Tambe bowled one over which went for 15 runs but he claimed a wicket off the last ball. Najibullah Zadran was his maiden victim in CPL.
Tambe had thrown his hat into the CPL draft after the BCCI barred him from competing in the now-postponed IPL 2020 for participating in the unsanctioned T10 League in Abu Dhabi last year.
The veteran leg-spinner was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League but the BCCI disqualified him since he had featured in the T10 League without informing the board.
Tambe, who made his IPL debut at the age of 41 for Rajasthan Royals back in 2013, has not played in the cash-rich tournament since 2016. Although he was roped in by Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2017, he didn’t get a game.
Coming to the match, Pravin Tambe came in place of Sunil Narine in TKR’s playing XI as skipper Kieron Pollard won the toss and opted to bowl first in a rain-marred affair at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.
Chasing the revised target of 72 in 9 overs, Knight Riders rode on Darren Bravo’s unbeaten 13-ball 23 and Colin Munro’s 8-ball 17 to overhaul it with six wickets and as many balls to spare.
Earlier, St Lucia Zouks had posted 111/6 in 17.1 overs when the rain arrived. Mohammad Nabi was the top-scorer with 30 not out off 22 balls.
