A total of 30 games were played in the PSL 2020 before the event called off due to the deadly virus.
Shahid Afridi suggested that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 trophy should be given to the table-toppers after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) called off the fifth season as the global coronavirus pandemic starts taking a toll on Pakistan.
As the total number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan jumped to 184, the global COVID-19 pandemic has forced to PCB to postpone the remainder of PSL 2020 despite the premier T20 event has already entered the knockout stages and semifinal matches were due to be played on Tuesday in Lahore.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday (March 17), and Afridi lauded the PCB’s decision to postpone the PSL 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic – which has claimed more than 7,000 lives globally till the date and putting health and safety at the top while that suggesting to hand over the trophy to the table topper.
The PSL franchise Multan Sultan featuring Shahid Afridi dominated the PSL 5 points table with 14 points having won 6 of their 10 matches in the tournament followed by Karachi Kings (11) and Lahore Qalandars (10).
Well, the Multan side has a positive 1.031 NRR with also leading the chart with 14 points and captain Afridi feels his side should be hand over the PSL 2020 trophy.
He wrote on Twitter, “Sad to see the PSL end, but health and safety of all concerned is the key, esp those who are traveling back to their homes. Perhaps the decision could have been taken earlier, with regards to the trophy…well, the table-topper should be handed the trophy?.”
