Gujarat eyeing final spot to win the Ranji Trophy 2020.
Parthiv Patel-led Gujarat has been dominant in the ongoing 2019-2020 season of the Ranji Trophy – which has been a season of aggression, attitude, and accomplishment for the side so far.
In the first-class tournament, Gujarat is currently unbeaten having won 5 games – four of which were one-sided affairs, from their 8 matches while 3 ended in a draw.

They are now set to take on Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy 2020 semi-final and Parthiv admitted that the opposition is a very good team in their own home conditions but the skipper insisted that the team’s strategy so far in the tournament will remain the same for the encounter.
Parthiv told Sportstar on Friday, “Saurashtra is always a good side when they are playing at home. In the season, we have tried to execute our plans and make sure that we play to our potential. Nothing changes in the semifinal and that’s going to be our game plan.”
He added, “As far as our team is concerned, we have been doing well. There aren’t many players in top run-getters or top wicket-takers’ list, but it shows that we have gelled well as a team. Whenever required, someone or the other have put their hands up for a match-winning performance.”
The skipper sounds confident ahead of the big clash at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, as they are coming into the semi-final following their mammoth 464-run win against Goa.
Parthiv noted, “We don’t rely on only one or two guys, so that’s a good thing. We have been here (in such a situation) before, so have they. We want to try and win every season. While he is aware that it will be a challenging task to tame the home team, the fact that there are no injury woes in the team does add to the Gujarat captain’s confidence. All the boys are fresh and are raring to go.”
He also said that there are thoughts in the Gujarat side to clinch another Ranji Trophy title this season, having last won the Trophy in 2016-17, but at the moment, they are just focusing on winning the win the semi-final against Saurashtra starting on Saturday (February 29).
Patel signed off by saying, “We have done really well throughout the season, so obviously, we are looking forward to the final. The thoughts of winning the title are always there but that’s not something we are thinking right now. To win the final, we have to ensure that we win the semifinal.”
