Ravi Yadav ended with a fifer in his debut FC match.
UP had won the toss and elected to field first. Madhya Pradesh was bowled out for 230 with Yash Dubey making 70 and contributions from Ishwar Pandey (36) and Ajay Rohera (42). Ankit Rajpoot (3/74) and Saurabh Kumar (3/59) were the picks of UP bowlers.
However, little did Uttar Pradesh know that MP had a surprise package in store for them. Left-arm seamer Ravi Yadav rattled them with a hat-trick in his very first over of FC cricket. He removed Aryan Juyal, skipper Ankit Rajpoot and Sameer Rizvi to become the first Indian bowler to pick a hat-trick in the first over of his debut match and second overall.
Before him, Ris Phillip of South Africa achieved the same feat in 1939-40.
Meanwhile, Yadav’s assault left UP 46/7, before Saurabh Kumar’s 98 and RK Singh’s 53 took them to 216 runs. Ravi finished with figures of 5/61, while Gaurav Yadav picked 3/73.
