Despite following the ball till the last moment, Patel fumbled and eventually grassed it.
The ongoing edition of Big Bash League (BBL) has witnessed some of the finest catches. But on Friday (January 10), cricket fans saw a different side as Samit Patel dropped an easy catch to give Ben Dunk a life.
During Melbourne Stars’ chase, Melbourne Renegades pacer Joe Mennie bowled a full-length delivery outside the off stump. Dunk, who was on strike, lost his shape aiming to whack the ball across the line. He got a leading edge that went high in the air but Patel failed to pouch a dolly.
The veteran England all-rounder had a lot of time to set himself up and take the catch. Despite following the ball till the last moment, Patel fumbled and eventually grassed it.

Luckily for the Renegades, Ben Dunk couldn’t do much damage as Richard Gleeson removed him for 14.
