BBL 09: Rashid Khan stars in Adelaide Strikers’ 15-run win over Perth Scorchers

Adelaide Strikers hosted Perth Scorchers in the 10th match of Big Bash League (BBL) 09 at the Adelaide Oval on Monday (December 23).

Asked to bat first, Strikers rode on opener Jake Weatherald’s 47-ball 83 (10 fours and 3 sixes) to pile up a mammoth 198/4 in a rain-marred 18-over-a-side affair.

Alex Carey also played a dazzling knock of 24-ball 55 (8 fours and 2 sixes) while Matthew Short chipped in with 22-ball 34.

Jhye Richardson was the pick of the bowlers for Scorchers, claiming 2 for 29 in four overs.

Defending the total, Strikers restricted Scorchers to 183/7 with Rashid Khan (3/40), Harry Conway (2/32) and Wes Agar (2/36) doing the damage with the ball.

Liam Livingstone (69 off 26 balls) and Josh Inglis (50 off 27 balls) played the valiant knocks for Perth Scorchers.
