BCCI’s senior selection committee on Thursday (February 7) announced the Rest of India and India squads. Ajinkya Rahane will lead the Rest of India squad vs Ranji Trophy champions Vidarbha in the Irani Cup from February 12-16 while KL Rahul has been named captain of India A, which will play the second four-day game vs England Lions in Mysore from February 13 onwards.
The Rest of India side's batting line-up looks very formidable with a lot of national players in the mix. Besides Rahane, Mayank Agarwal, Hanuma Vihari, Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan are also part of the squad. Saurashtra wicketkeeper Snell Patel, who scored a ton in the Ranji final, has also made the cut.
Both the squads have wrist spinners. While Rajasthan's Rahul Chahar is in the ROI team, Punjab's Mayank Markande is in the India ‘A’ side.
Uttar Pradesh's Ankit Rajpoot, Karnataka's Ronit More, Kerala's Sandeep Warrier and Rajasthan's left-armer Tanveer ul Haq will make the four-pronged pace attack, rewarded for their excellent showing in Ranji Trophy.
