Vidarbha proved to be in top form while winning their second Ranji title.
Saurashtra couldn’t make a match out of the chase of 206 runs and was bowled out 127 runs, as Vidarbha’s Aditya Sarwate picked 5/98 and 6/59 to help his team win the title. Earlier, Vidarbha had chosen to bat first in finals after winning the toss and put up 312 with Akshay Karnewar making 73*.
Saurashtra replied with 307 thanks to Snell Patel’s 102 and Sarwate’s fifer. Vidarbha failed to repeat their first innings flair and was bowled out for 200, with Sarwate contributing 49 to the cause, as Dharmendrasinh Jadeja picked 6/96.
Set 206 to win, Saurashtra never seemed to be in control of the situation with Sarwate picking a fifer and 11 wickets in the match. Vidarbha bowled their opposition for 127 and won the match by 78 runs. Aditya Sarwate won the Man of the Match for his 11/157.
Vidarbha was touted to defend their title when the Ranji Trophy 2018-19 started and they proved their supporters right.
