CWC 2019: Bangladesh- COC Players’ ratings

CWC 2019: Bangladesh- COC Players’ ratings

Bangladesh finished at 8th spot on the points table with 7 points.

By Jatin Sharma - 10 Jul, 2019

Bangladesh had a very good ICC World Cup 2019 than what their standings on the points table suggest. They registered some big wins against top teams and took other heavyweights right down to the wire.

Most importantly, a legitimate star made his presence felt in the tournament as Shakib Al Hasan slammed over 600 runs and picked 11 wickets, having a performance of a lifetime in the World Cup. However, other senior players barely managed to register their importance in such a big event and the likes of Mehidy Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, and Soumya Sarkar failed miserably to rise up to the occasion.

Mustafizur Rahman was the only bowler to shine for the Tigers, as he got some support from only Mohammad Saifuddin. Rubel Hossain, though experienced, couldn’t bring his A-game. However, the biggest disappointment was Mashrafe Mortaza, their leader, and captain, as he failed to perform with the ball or the bat. His captaincy skills didn’t warrant him wasting a place in the XI, but his stature in Bangladesh cricket meant that he played all the games.

Here is Team COC Players Rating for the Bangladesh team in the ICC World Cup 2019.

Shakib-Al-Hasan- 10/10

What a tournament Shakib Al Hasan had this time, with 606 runs and 11 wickets to his name. The highest point of his tournament was the match-winning century against the West Indies when Bangladesh chased down well over 300 runs. He slammed two centuries and five half-centuries and had an average of 86.57 and strike rate of 96.03.

Mustafizur Rahman- 10/10

Mustafizur Rahman was probably one of the bowlers of the tournament with 20 wickets in 8 matches with two five-wicket hauls to his name. Rahman was amazing with both the new ball and in the death overs. One of the best left-armers going around today, had he gotten support from other bowlers, Bangladesh might have fared better.

Mushfiqur Rahim- 8/10

Mushfiqur Rahim was another batsman who made his country proud at this world event. He scored 367 runs in the tournament with one century and two fifties. He was safe behind the stumps as well and his century against Australia was a highlight for him in the World Cup.

Mohammad Saifuddin- 6/10

Mohammad Saifuddin justified his selection in the team by picking 13 wickets and also scoring a half-century. He did go for runs at an economy of 7.18 but was effective when Mustafizur needed some support.

Liton Das- 5/10

Liton Das had a so-so tournament with 184 runs in 5 matches and a best of 94*. That score came against West Indies, on his debut in the tournament and helped Shakib Al Hasan chase down over 300 runs in the match.

Mahmudullah- 5/10

Mahmudullah played some stinging cameos at the death overs and managed 219 runs in 7 matches with the best score of 69. He hurt his hamstring before the India match and couldn’t make it into the playing XI for that match.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz 3/10

Mehidy Hasan played 7 matches and picked 6 wickets, far less than what was expected of this talented all-rounder. The right-arm spinner couldn’t manage to bring his best game and support Shakib and Mustafizur.

Tamim Iqbal- 3/10

Tamim Iqbal had a horror World Cup as he managed just 235 runs in 8 matches and just scored a single fifty. He averaged 29.37 and had a strike rate of 71.64, something that is not associated with the dynamic left-hander.

Soumya Sarkar- 2/10

Soumya Sarkar got to open the innings, his preferred position, but he couldn’t take advantage of it. He managed just 166 runs with the highest score of 42. He tried to be aggressive on pitches that were more suited for the grind and seeing off the initial movement in the air and off the pitch. His failure at the top contributed much to Bangladesh’s five losses.

Mosaddek Hossain- 2/10

Mosaddek Hossain picked 3 wickets and made 117 runs and was probably there to make up the playing XI, as he couldn’t manage to do anything out of the ordinary to help the team.

Sabbir Rahman- 2/10

Sabbir Rahman only got to play 2 games and scored 36 runs.

Mohammad Mithun- 2/10

Mithun scored 47 runs in the 3 games he got a chance in.

Rubel Hossain- 1/10

Rubel Hossain got to play just 2 games in the World Cup and picked one wicket, as Saifuddin was chosen over him to partner Mustafizur.

Mashrafe Mortaza- 1/10

Captain Mashrafe Mortaza gets one point for his captaincy, as he failed to help his team with either the bat or the ball. He picked just one wicket in 8 matches at an average of 361. Many experts called for him to drop himself to let someone else come in and help the team achieve the next level, but it didn’t happen.
