CWC 2019: Michael Vaughan takes a jibe at Team India’s intent-less chase against England

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan on Monday (July 1) took a cheeky jibe at Team India’s unsuccessful run-chase in their last World Cup clash against the tournament hosts at Edgbaston.

Chasing 338 for victory, MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav showed absolutely no intent in the death overs to chase down the target. The duo managed to score only 39 runs in the last 31 balls as England restricted India to 306/5 in their stipulated 50 overs.

Vaughan replied to a tweet by Harsha Bhogle, who praised West Indies’ lower-order batsmen’s approach while chasing a massive target of 339 against Sri Lanka at the Riverside Ground on Monday.

"Got to love the West Indies. Even when the target is seemingly beyond reach, they keep going for it," Harsha Bhogle tweeted.

Vaughan didn’t miss an opportunity to troll Team India as he quoted the tweet and wrote: "Unlike India!"

Despite being reduced to 84/4 in the 18th over, West Indies didn’t give up. Nicholas Pooran slammed a breathtaking century (118 off 103 balls) to put the two-time champions on the brink of victory. However, West Indies fail to cross the line and eventually lost by 23 runs.
