The 38th match of the ICC World Cup 2019 saw England hammer the Indian bowlers while batting first in the must-win game for them at the Edgbaston ground in Birmingham. England won the toss and chose to bat first on a beauty of a batting wicket.

England chose to bring in Liam Plunkett for Moeen Ali, while India gave a World Cup debut to Rishabh Pant in place of Vijay Shankar. The English openers went after the Indian spinners after a quiet 10 overs in which 47 runs were made. Both Kuldeep (1/72) and Chahal (0/88) were tonked to all parts of the ground by Roy and Bairstow, who added 160 runs in 22 overs.

Roy fell to Kuldeep for 66, while Bairstow made his first World Cup century, but went back to the pavilion for 111 to Shami. Shami also picked the wickets of Joe Root (44), skipper Morgan (1) and the dangerous Buttler (20 off 8 balls). He completed his 10 overs with figures reading 5/69.

Ben Stokes hit a whirlwind half-century (79 off 54 balls) and helped England to 337/7.

The Cricket fraternity on Twitter lauded Jonny Bairstow for his amazing century which had 10 fours and six sixes and we have some of the best tweets for you.
