Roy and Morgan suffered injuries during the match against West Indies on Friday.
However, in their previous match against West Indies, the England team was struck twice by the injury bug as two of their most important members were seen leaving the field and getting treated in the confines of the pavilion.
First Jason Roy pulled up with a hamstring injury and didn’t come out to bat in the chase and then captain Eoin Morgan was seen holding his back and had to go back leaving Jos Buttler to lead the side in his stead. Now the England team management has provided updates on the duo’s injuries.
Eoin Morgan underwent scans for back spasms this weekend and further treatment. The update is that the spasm settled down and he will be monitored over the next 24 hours ahead of England’s next match against Afghanistan tomorrow (Tuesday) at Old Trafford, Manchester.
As for Jason Roy, his injury has turned out to be a serious one and after undergoing an MRI scan, it was revealed that his left hamstring had suffered a tear. This has put him out of contention for England’s upcoming encounters against Afghanistan (18 June) and Sri Lanka (21 June). Roy’s condition will be monitored on an ongoing basis this week and further updates will be given.
