Dhawan made a brilliant 117 against Australia to win the match for India on June 9.
Shikhar Dhawan tormented the Aussie bowlers as India scored 352/5 which is the highest score by any team against Australia in World Cup cricket and helped India won the match.
After a scintillating knock, the southpaw made his debut on ‘Chahal TV’. Indian leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has been conducting interviews on a lighter note of Indian cricketers each time the Indian team wins. The top performer of the match ‘gets a chance’ to appear on the show called ‘Chahal TV’.
Dhawan was the perfect candidate to be interviewed on a fun show. He started by saying, “It is a big day for me that I'm making my debut on Chahal TV. It's been a year I think since I've wanted to be here. Even after scoring 143 against Australia in Mohali this year I couldn't feature on your show. But after so much of hard work I have made it, please give me a hug.”
He was then asked about he managed to play such a brilliant knock against strong opposition like Australia after going through a form slump.
He said, “I had a positive mindset. I was looking to score runs but the wicket was a bit tricky so I had to give enough respect to the bowlers as well. I knew that if we play positively against Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc without taking any risks then we can cash in later on their lesser experienced bowlers.”
“And that is what happened. My partnership with Rohit was amazing. We could score easily against the spinners so we didn't have to take risks. Our presence of mind and communication was very good. All that helped a lot and we are very fit also,” he added.
