Pakistan wouldn't have hoped for a start like this to their ICC World Cup 2019 campaign. Their motto 'We have We will' suits well here because they were crushed by West Indies in the last World Cup as well and Pakistan just repeated it.
Led by Sarfraz Ahmed, Pakistan found themselves in the middle of a desert with no shade of a tree. West Indies were brutal with the ball as they kept on targetting the subcontinent cricket team with bouncers. Bothered with the short delivery, most of the Pakistan batsmen had no answer to it. Babar Azam, who was looking good even against the short balls, gave away his wicket chasing a ball wide outside off stump.
West Indies bowled out Pakistan for a paltry 105 in 21.4 overs. They later chased down the small 106-run target with 218 balls to spare. Chris Gayle top-scored for West Indies with 50 runs off 34 balls. With the ball, it was Oshane Thomas who picked up four wickets and won the Man of the Match. It was Andre Russell who triggered the chaos for Pakistan with two wickets at the top.
