ICC has mandated different colored jerseys for home and away matches.
Earlier, South Africa had done so, with green dominating their home jersey, with lime green being the major color in their away kits. This was done when ICC for the first time advised the teams to prepare a separate away kit to avoid confusion during the World Cup in England.
‘For televised ICC events all participating teams will be required to provide for two different colored kits, except for the host country who has a preference in the choice of color and may, if it chooses to do so, provide only one colored kit to be worn in all matches throughout the event. In advance of the event the teams will be notified which colored kit will be worn in each match,” ICC said in a release.
Bangladesh, Pakistan and South Africa are the teams who have green as their primary color in kits and when they face each other in group stages, the away team will need to wear a different colored jersey. The same thing goes with Sri Lanka, India, and Afghanistan, who have blue as their primary color.
According to media reports, India too is thinking of preparing an away kit, with orange as the prominent color. India might need the away kit for matches against England, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan as they too have blue in their home kit.
The only teams who do not need to wear any other are England, who are the hosts, and West Indies, Australia, and New Zealand thanks to Maroon, Yellow, and Black being their primary kit colors.
