Nitish Kumar Reddy saved blushes for the Indian team, along with Washington Sundar on day 3 of the ongoing MCG Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024.

Resuming on 164/5 on day three, India lost the wickets of Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja as they slipped to 221/7. Then Washington Sundar scored a 50 and added 127 runs for the 8th wicket with Nitish Kumar Reddy to save India huge blushes.

Nitish Reddy first completed his maiden Test fifty and then converted it into a maiden Test century and came out of it unbeaten on 105 runs with India finishing day 3 on 358/9.

His century was witnessed by none other than his father Mutyala Reddy, who was present in Melbourne, in the front row. His father has been an integral part of Nitish’s cricketing journey.

Meanwhile, a few old posts from his statemate Hanuma Vihari on X have gone viral on social media. The posts were made by Vihari in April this year when Nitish Reddy was playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL that year.

That was just a glimpse from Nitish. Invest in him. He’s the next big thing not just in franchise cricket. Batter who can bowl medium pace. Rare commodity!,” Vihari posted in X.

He also revealed how his father sacrificed his job to allow his time to be dedicated to Nitish Reddy’s cricketing career.

“NKR- comes from a humble background. His father left his job for his career, he guided him and nurtured him. His hard work has paid dividends and I’ve seen him whn he was 17 years old. Proud of him of how he’s grown as a player. Asset for SRH n India in the future!”, he added.

Meanwhile, after Reddy scored a brilliant century for India in MCG, Vihari once again took to social media and said that it was a moment to cherish for the young all-rounder.

Moment to cherish! Can’t be any more prouder for what you’ve achieved Nitish, many more to come,” Vihari posted.
