Travis Head, Australia's in-form player, batted off worries about his fitness after looking to suffer with a suspected groin ailment during Wednesday's rain-soaked drawn third Test against India at the Gabba in Brisbane.

At times, he was seen gripping his groin, which alarmed commentators. Former bowler Brett Lee described the visuals as "worrying signs," citing Head's limited movement. Indian great Ravi Shastri also expressed concern, characterizing the probable injury as a "body blow" for Australia, given Head's significant role in the batting lineup.

Head did not take the field for India's second innings, fueling more conjecture. However, the batter has quelled concerns and expects to be “fine" for the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.

Very pleased with the way I am batting at the moment. Just a little sore, but I should be fine (before the next game)," Head, who was adjudged the Player Of The Match, said after the game.

Head has been in excellent form in the series, scoring 409 runs at an average of 81.80, with two centuries. He reflected on his approach to this series, crediting his achievement to adapting effectively to difficult conditions and remaining calm at the crease.

Challenging wicket. I had to work through the gears. I had different plans, pleased I could get through those. Good partnership with (Steve) Smith. “I just try to sum up the conditions well. What I’ve done well in this series is assess the conditions. Pleased with the tempo I’ve batted with. Pretty relaxed communication.

“Felt like he was back in his rhythm, and he gives me full freedom and confidence knowing he’s going to be there for a long while. I feel like I am playing the situation in front of me," Head said.

The fourth Test of the BGT 2024 will be played in Melbourne from December 26 onwards.
