Day 2 of the ongoing third Test in BGT 2024 between Australia and India belonged to the hosts after the first day of the match was ruined due to rain. Only 13.2 overs were possible on day one with Australia making 28/0 after being asked to bat first by India captain Rohit Sharma.

On day 2, under clear sky, India bowlers, particularly Jasprit Bumrah found some nip and movement and removed both openers Usman Khawaja (21) and Nathan McSweeney (9) early. Nitish Reddy then accounted for Marnus Labuschagne for 12 runs.

But then Steve Smith and in form Travis Head got together and hammered the Indian bowlers who looked listless on a batting friendly wicket. Both the batters scored century and added 241 runs for the 4th wicket.

Steve Smith, who was under pressure, made 101 with 12 fours, while Travis Head continued his good form with the bat in the series. He had previously gotten out for golden duck at Brisbane thrice in the previous three innings.

But he made his good form this time count and hammered 152 with 18 fours and his purple patch against India continued.

This was Head’s 9th Test century and he’d hope that like his previous 8 Test centuries, this one also results in a win for his side Australia.

The cricket fraternity was all praises for Travis Head’s amazing run of form and his patch against India as he slammed his second century of the BGT 2024. The Australian batter was praised wholeheartedly by the fraternity on social media.
