Rain ruined the first day of the third BGT 2024 Test in Brisbane with only 13.2 overs possible as India won the toss and chose to bowl first. Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney played out everything Indian bowlers threw at them.

Meanwhile, as the players from both sides waited for the rain to stop and play to resume, Nathan Lyon was seen in the Cricket 7 commentary box with Aaron Finch.

At that time, the people in the comm box were discussing the floodlights fiasco during the second Test in Adelaide, when the floodlights went off twice, interrupting the game for 15 minutes. It was later revealed that a few Australian players wanted to have batting practice in the nets.

To facilitate the same, a member of the Adelaide stadium staff had mistakenly turned off the floodlights switch instead of switching on the lights in the practice area.

Lyon clarified that because he was the nightwatchman and had to come in next, he went to the practice nets expecting a knocking session when the guard accidentally hit the wrong switch twice after being requested to turn on the light.

I couldn’t believe that. I was actually with our assistant coach ‘Boro’, sitting out there in the dark and the security guard asked us, and we said, ‘If you could put the lights on that’d be great, I need all the help I can get’. Then the next minute it went off," Lyon told 7Cricket.

I literally said to Boro, ‘I reckon he’s hit the wrong switch’. We sat out in the dark there for about 15 minutes waiting to have a hit. I’ll take that one, getting blamed for someone not knowing how to turn the lights on,” he added.
