KL Rahul was deemed caught behind on what was a no-ball, resulting in Kohli returning back from boundary.
There was huge drama on day one of the second BGT 2024 Test in Adelaide between Australia and India. India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first.
India made two changes as Washington Sundar made way for Ravichandran Ashwin and Dhruv Jurel was replaced by Rohit Sharma.
India lost a wicket on the first ball of the match as Yashasvi Jaiswal was LBW by Mitchell Starc for a golden duck. And then fellow opener KL Rahul, who had survived a few balls, also seemingly got out caught behind for a duck off Scott Boland’s first ball.
However, as KL Rahul began walking back and Boland and the Australians celebrated, replays showed that Boland had overstepped. The TV umpire relayed the same to the ground umpire, and the ball was called a no-ball.
However, when the on-field decision went in favor of the bowling team, India's No. 4 hitter, Virat Kohli, walked out to replace Rahul, and was about to cross the boundary ropes. But he had to be sent back by the umpires because Boland's no-ball prevented Rahul from being dismissed.
It's interesting to note that snicko displayed no spike when the ball passed Rahul's bat. It is unclear whether the Indian star intended to examine the call.
Later in the same over, Rahul was dropped by Usman Khawaja in slips, giving him another chance, much to the despair of Boland and Australia.
