The Indian team defeated Australia PM’s XI in the pink ball practice match in Canberra on December 1, after the first day’s play on November 30th was rained out. Both teams agreed to play one innings each of 46 overs.

Australia was asked to bat first by Rohit Sharma, who won the toss. Thanks to Sam Konstas’ 107, Hanno Jacobs’ 61, and Jack Clayton’s 40, PM XI posted 240 in 43.2 overs. For India, Harshit Rana picked 4/44, while Akash Deep took wickets.

In reply, Shubman Gill made 50 before retiring, while Yashasvi Jaiswal made 45 runs. Nitish Reddy and Washington Sundar made 42 each, as Sundar remained unbeaten.

India went past PM XI’s total and won the match, but played out all 46 overs and scored 257/5. Sam Konstas won the Player of the Match for his ton.

During PM XI’s innings, Sarfaraz Khan was given a wicketkeeping opportunity for a few overs. He found the going tough and even got an earful from captain Rohit Sharma, who fielded in slips.

In a hilarious incident, Sarfaraz Khan was also seen demanding the dismissal of Australian batter Hanno Jacobs as he had hit the ball twice.

According to the regulations, a batsman is not permitted to strike the ball twice but can do so if the primary purpose is to keep the ball from hitting the stumps.

On this occasion, Jacobs did not hit the ball with the intention of scoring runs, but rather to prevent the ball from disturbing his stumps. Thus, Sarfaraz's earnest appeal was overlooked.
