Dhruv Jurel contributed to India’s astonishing win in the first Test of the BGT 2024 against Australia in Perth, as he took a brilliant one-handed catch to send back the stubborn Mitchell Starc on day four of the game.

Resuming on day 4 from 12/3, Australia found some solace in Travis Head, who played a good counter-attacking knock of 89 in 101 balls with 8 fours. Head also added 82 runs for the 6th wicket with Mitchell Marsh, who made 87.

While Alex Carey also made 36, the wickets continued to tumble as Australia was bowled out for 238 runs and lost the Test by 295 runs. For India, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj picked three wickets each, while Washington Sundar took 2 scalps.

Starc had batted for 35 balls, scoring 12 runs and his stubborn knock came to an end in the 54th over. On the third ball of the over, Washington Sundar bowled a straighter one and Starc took a big stride to flick the ball.

The ball took a good chunk of his bat and almost went past Dhruv Jurel, stationed at the short-leg position. Jurel showed very good reflexes and stuck his right hand out and grabbed the ball out of thin air.

Starc had to go back to the pavilion as Jurel and Sundar, along with Team India celebrated.
