Dravid was not able to stop himself from taking stock of the situation in Perth.
The highly-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy between Australia and India got underway in Perth on Friday (November 22).
As many as 17 wickets fell on the opening day, with pacer bowlers of both teams dominate proceedings at the Optus Stadium.
Opting to bat first, India’s first innings folded for a paltry 150, with the Aussie quicks namely Josh Hazlewood (4-29), Mitchell Starc (2-14), Pat Cummins (2-67) and Mitchell Marsh (2-12) sharing the wickets among them.
The visitors hit back after a dismal display with the bat, claiming seven wickets in the final session to put themselves in the box seat. Stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah's sensational spell (4-17) reduced the hosts to 67/7 at stumps.
The action on Day 1 was so riveting that former India head coach Rahul Dravid, who is currently in Jeddah to plan the IPL auction strategy for Rajasthan Royals, was not able to stop himself from taking stock of the situation in Perth.
In a video shared by the official 'X' handle of RR, Dravid can be seen inquiring about how the first Test in Perth is unfolding.
The clip starts with a person celebrating the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne. When he reads the score as 47/6, Dravid responds, "Yeah? Who's out?"
"Labuschagne," comes the reply. The Royals coach then asks the name of the bowler who got the right-handed batter out.
Rajasthan Royals uploaded the video with the caption, “Difficult to not keep up with scores when it’s Day 1 of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.”
Coming to the Perth Test, India bundled out Australia for 104 on Day 2 to gain a handy lead of 46 runs. While Bumrah returned with a five-wicket haul (5-30), Harshit Rana (3-48) and Mohammed Siraj (2-20) shared the remaining five scalps between them.
